This Week in Performance Reporting

What’s New in Performance Reporting

A–F Accountability

STAAR High/Low Cut Points

The STAAR raw scores and scale scores associated with the calculation of School Progress, Part A: Academic Growth, and corresponding high and low performance level cut points, have been updated on the 2023 Accountability Development webpage,in the What-If Reports section. These updates reflect how a defined raw score of 0 is accounted for in the calculation. This update does not change where the high/low cut points had previously been established.

CCMR Verifier

The College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Verifier will be available in the TEA Login (TEAL) Accountability application from Thursday, May 25 to June 23. The CCMR Verifier provides districts an opportunity to verify the accuracy of their CCMR data and, if needed, submit official documentation to correct data. CCMR indicators determined by TSDS PEIMS submissions are not eligible for corrections, and therefore, will not be shown. The CCMR Verifier will contain data for 2021-22 annual graduates and non-graduating 12th graders.

Pairing Registration Window

The 2023 campus pairing registration window for state academic accountability is now open. It closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Campuses that do not serve any grade level in which STAAR assessments are administered are paired with another campus in the same district or the district itself for accountability purposes. Pairing registration will be available within the TEA Login (TEAL). Email notification will be sent to superintendents of Pairing campuses on Monday, April 24, 2023.

Assessment Scoring and Reporting

Spring 2023 STAAR Administration

Student Responses
As a reminder, district testing personnel must ensure all student responses for paper administrations of State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) reading language arts (RLA) assessments are entered and submitted in the Data Entry Interface (DEI) by 11:59 p.m. (CT) April 28, 2023. If district personnel do not submit student responses in DEI by this date, the responses will not be scored. It is highly recommended that districts reserve the last 2–3 days of the STAAR RLA testing window for DEI submissions.

 Additional Orders

For any student taking a braille administration who also needs content and language supports, district personnel must add a request for paper with embedded supports to their additional order. Additional orders should be submitted as soon as possible for materials to arrive prior to testing for science, social studies, and mathematics.

2023 STAAR Alternate 2 Administration

Completing Administration

As a reminder, district testing personnel must ensure all student responses for STAAR Alternate 2 are entered and submitted in DEI by 11:59 p.m. (CT) April 28, 2023. Tests which remain paused in DEI will be closed and marked as complete at the close of the administration. It is highly recommended that districts reserve the last 2–3 days of this testing window for DEI submissions.

Reporting

District personnel must ensure all score codes and student information are entered in the Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) by April 28. This includes student demographics, program enrollment, and designated supports. If district personnel make changes to the information after this date, those changes will not be included in accountability reports. The reporting student data file format is available on the Texas Assessment website.

Printed Report Cards and Confidential Student Labels

Districts will not receive printed copies of STAAR Alternate 2 report cards unless they opt in to receiving paper copies by April 28. Districts will receive confidential student labels unless they opt out of receiving labels by April 28. District personnel may make their selections for these options by using the Score Reporting and Label Requests module in TIDE.

Texas Through-Year Assessment Pilot Application

As a reminder, the district-level application for the 2023–2024 Texas Through-year Assessment Pilot (TTAP) is open until 11:59 p.m. (CT) Friday, April 28, 2023. All Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools are eligible to participate in TTAP. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has provided the following resources that district staff can access to learn more about TTAP:

  •  TTAP Year 2 Informational Webinar Recording

For more information, including the resources above, please refer to the TTAP webpage.

Texas Formative Assessment Resource

The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for social studies within the Texas Formative Assessment Resource (TFAR) have been updated. Efforts have been made to realign all TFAR items to the TEKS adopted in 2018, including user-authored and TEA-owned items. If an item no longer aligns to a current standard, “undesignated” will appear as the standard in TFAR. To realign a user-authored item that is now undesignated, users must copy the item, make necessary changes, and save again.
