Assessment Scoring and Reporting
Spring 2023 STAAR Administration
Testing Windows - The testing window for the spring 2023 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) administration opens on Tuesday, April 18, and closes Friday, April 28, for reading language arts (RLA) assessments. All STAAR RLA assessments, including tests for grades 3–8, English I, and English II, must be completed by April 28, 2023. The testing window for science and social studies is April 25–May 5, and the testing window for mathematics is May 2–May 12.
Student Responses - District testing personnel must ensure all student responses for paper administrations of STAAR RLA are entered and submitted in the Data Entry Interface (DEI) by 11:59 p.m. (CT) April 28, 2023. If district personnel do not submit student responses in DEI by this date, the responses will not be scored. It is highly recommended that districts reserve the last 2–3 days of the STAAR RLA testing window for DEI submissions.
2023 STAAR Alternate 2 Administration
Completing Administrations - District testing personnel must ensure all student responses for STAAR Alternate 2 are entered and submitted in DEI by 11:59 p.m. (CT) April 28, 2023. Tests paused in DEI must be submitted. If the tests are not submitted, they will expire, and no scores will be reported. It is highly recommended that districts reserve the last 2–3 days of this testing window for DEI submissions.
Reporting - Districts personnel must ensure all score codes and student information are entered in the Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) by April 28. This includes student demographics, program enrollment, and designated supports. If district testing personnel make changes to the information after this date, those changes will not be included in accountability reports. The reporting student data file format is available on the Texas Assessment website.
Printed Report Cards and Confidential Student Labels - Districts will not receive printed copies of STAAR Alternate 2 report cards unless they opt in to receive paper copies by April 28. Districts will receive confidential student labels unless they opt out of receiving labels by April 28. District personnel may make their selections for these options by using the Score Reporting and Label Requests module in TIDE.
Texas Formative Assessment Resource
The Texas Formative Assessment Resource (TFAR) system has been updated to include writing checklists, mathematics reference materials, and science reference materials. These documents are available in the Test Properties menu to be selected for inclusion on a test.
Training Opportunities
A new training video, How to Generate Test Session Status Reports for Scheduled Sessions, has been posted to the District and Campus Coordinator Resources. Refer to the Updates to Coordinator Resources section for the latest updates.
