Websites And Applications Built For TEA
Look and Feel
All related sites will include the TEA “brand bar”, logo, and approved colors.
Brand Bar
TEA requires that related sites include a brand bar. Here is a brand bar code example. However you can modify the bar to match your site colors. Here are some other sites that are using the brand bar:
Branding Standards
We have developed our brand book and style guide to help everyone maintain the TEA brand according to the established guidelines. By utilizing these guidelines, you are doing your part by reinforcing our image and brand.
Web Standards and Hosting
- TEA web standards:
- Sites should be built using html 5, bootstrap css framework, jQuery (if required).
- All sites should be built using responsive design for both tablets and phones.
- All sites must meet accessibility standards before they are made public.
- all sites must contain the footer links mandated by the Texas Administrative Code Chapters 206.
- TEA prefers that all new sites be hosted by TEA.
- TEA prefers that sites be built using a Drupal 9 Content Management system (CMS). CMS sites are easier for content authors to maintain. These sites will be hosted on TEA's cloud platform. TEA can not host sites built in any other CMS. Sites that are not hosted by TEA need to be pre-approved by TEA Communications and ITS before they are built. Email webpostings@tea.texas.gov to begin the process.
- Complete the Web Hosting Request for your project.
- All domain names must be purchased and managed by TEA. The domain names will be in this format; name.tea.texas.gov. You can indicate the domain name on the form above.
- Stand alone websites can be hosted on a TEA windows server.
Analytics
TEA uses Siteimprove for analytics. Please place the following code in the footer of your website. Web Services will take care of adding your site to our account.

Accessibility
- All websites must follow the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) rules in Chapter 206 and Chapter 213 as well as the Federal Section 508 standards and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 II. All websites must be tested for accessibility before acceptance by TEA. We prefer that the site be tested by an organization with a track record of performing accessibility testing. If the vendor or grantee is experienced in accessibility testing, we will accept a completed VPAT template that verifies that the site has been tested and meets standards. The site cannot go live until accessibility has been verified.
- All sites must include footer links as required by Texas Administrative Code, rule ยง206.54.
