Accountability System for Educator Preparation for 2019-2020

Approved educator preparation programs (EPPs) annually provide the Texas Education Agency and State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) information about their programs as mandated in Texas Education Code Section 21.045 and 21.0452. This data is used to calculate the indicators in the Accountability System for Educator Preparation (ASEP). For more about ASEP and the performance indicators, visit the TAC 229.4 or the Consumer Information about Educator Preparation Programs Page. To see where these EPPs are located throughout the state, visit our interactive map.

To manage the impact of the public health crisis on educator certification and preparation programs, Governor Abbott has suspended certain requirements to provide flexibility for candidates, districts, and educator preparation programs for the 2020-21 school year. Following this action, the State Board for Educator Certification adopted rule language to provide all EPPs with an accreditation status of "Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster" for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The data provided on these reports detail the remaining of the 2019-2020 school year and highlights the differences compared to the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years. To learn more about the specific policy changes, visit the Guidance on Educator Certification and Preparation page.
